As the official school of the Southwest’s premier ballet company, the School of Ballet Arizona provides dance training based on the evolving, living traditions of classical ballet. A major focus of the School is to prepare students for a professional dance career with Ballet Arizona or other internationally recognized companies. School of Ballet Arizona alumni have gone on to dance professionally with American Ballet Theatre, Royal Ballet of Flanders, Boston Ballet, and Ballet Arizona. Currently, the School has several of its former students continuing their studies at the School of American Ballet, the Alvin Ailey School, and Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet School.
Led by School Director Nancy Crowley and renowned Ballet Arizona Artistic Director
Ib Andersen, the School provides a positive and inspirational learning environment. The School features a distinguished staff of musicians and teachers including Ballet Arizona dancers and artistic staff – drawing on the techniques of masters such as August Bournonville, Enrico Cecchetti, George Balanchine, and Agrippina Vaganova. At the School of Ballet Arizona, students share in the tradition of learning from artists who have dedicated their lives to dance.
Ongoing support is provided by Ballet Arizona School Board Committee members and an active volunteer organization of parents called Ballet Education Parent Partnership (BEPP).
The School offers a wide variety of classes for children ages 3 all the way to adult classes, for beginners to advanced levels.
